An old sign at Alcatraz.

A sight that never fails to impress.

Lovely video from the British Film Institute showing London in colour in 1927. Everything is so familiar yet so very different.

Alcatraz Dining Room

A depressing faded subway under an unpleasant concrete flyover on Edgware Road is not the best way to be remembered. Really this place couldn’t be any greyer.

Seen at the aptly named Tropical World in Roundhay Park, Leeds. No dodgy Russian accents detected.

Reflected Opulence

Along a stretch of Regent’s Canal are a series of magnificent houses. I’ve never seen them used by anyone, but I like to imagine grand parties and shadowy events happening. On a still day I might see both.
