Beat Box

I don’t really know what this is, other than a building covered in plastic sheets inside the Olympic park and labelled as ‘beat box’. It looks difficult to clean.

Velodrome

Probably one of the most striking buildings in the Olympic park, both up close and from a distance. It’s well placed within the parkland and looks like a giant stingray dropped by.

World’s largest McDonald’s

Situated in the Olympic park and with enough space for 1500 athletes to chow down. Looks like it was made from noodles.

Olympic Park

As mentioned in a previous post, I recently visited the Olympic park. This is a vast area of East London previously occupied by industrial units and dilapidation and now all shiny and new and full of visitors. I used to live about 20 minutes walking distance … Continue reading Olympic Park

Olympic Women’s Hockey – Great Britain vs New Zealand

Image · August 10, 2012August 2, 2014 · 1 Comment ·

So yesterday I was saying that it was almost the end of a series of Olympic-themed posts and… I score some tickets to see the women’s hockey – this time, actually inside the Olympic park. Very exciting! I’ll be adding photos of the park in … Continue reading Olympic Women’s Hockey – Great Britain vs New Zealand

St. Pancras Olympic rings

Forgive me for another Olympic-based photo – it will all be over very soon! These are the rings that greet visitors from the North of England and on the Eurostar at St. Pancras station. I’ve spent many hours waiting for trains in the dark dingy … Continue reading St. Pancras Olympic rings

Windsor round tower

Image · August 8, 2012August 2, 2014 · Leave a comment ·

Looking a bit like a cake with a candle on top, this is the round tower at Windsor castle. No matter how far back I went I just couldn’t get enough of the rest of the castle in the shot, which is a shame as … Continue reading Windsor round tower

Olympic Men’s Triathlon – Hyde Park

Image · August 7, 2012August 2, 2014 · 6 Comments ·

I was lucky enough to get two tickets to see the men’s Triathlon in Hyde Park. This wasn’t in the Olympic stand, but was across the Serpentine in the Lido. It was a great place to watch, and included breakfast – bonus! Around 200,000 people … Continue reading Olympic Men’s Triathlon – Hyde Park
